NASA@ My Library Workshop – Apply by October 17!
October 9 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Space Science Institute’s NASA@ My Library workshop will be a great 1.5 days of hands-on learning about astronomy by experts in the field. Training is geared to children’s library staff who work with kids 5-13 and their families in public or military libraries. As this workshop is limited to 35 participants and we anticipate it will have high demand, there is an application process. The application is due October 17; applicants will be notified on October 22 if they’ve been selected to attend.
When: November 15, 2018 from 11:00-5;00, with an evening night sky viewing (weather permitting), continued Nov 16, 8:00-noon.
Where: Mesa County Library’s Central Library, 443 N. 6th Street, Grand Junction
Selection process: We anticipate a lot of interest in this exciting opportunity, thus this application process is in place. A priority for NASA@ My Library is to engage groups underserved and underrepresented in STEM fields, including Hispanics and Latinos, African Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, the economically disadvantaged, rural communities, people with disabilities, women and girls; thus, priority will be given to applicants who currently work with, or plan to work with, these audiences around the content of the workshop.
