Little University & Family Literacy-Early Learning Programs Beyond Storytimes
January 23 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
The five Every Child Ready To Read practices: Read, Write, Sing, Talk, and Play, are all critical to the development of Early Literacy skills in children under the age of three. However, while all five of these components are important, Read, Write, Sing, and Talk all require some kind of shared language. However, Play, does not. Movement and Play transcend barriers of language, physical capacity, and culture, and encourage participation and understanding. Traditional Storytimes, while much more active than the Storytimes of yesteryear, still focuses on storytelling and reading. Through programs such as the ones to be discussed during this webinar, Play becomes the centerpiece, thus serving to provide a more unexpectedly enjoyable Early Literacy experience.
